Bloomsburg Softball Splits with Kutztown

KUTZTOWN- The Bloomsburg University softball team split a pair of games to Kutztown University on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies took game one, 9-0 in five innings, but fell 7-1 in game two.
In game one, Bloomsburg took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Tara Reed (Williamsport/ Williamsport) led the game off with a double and Alyssa English (Wallacetown/ Phillipsburg-Osceola) followed one out later with an RBI single. After a walk, Jess Rosin (Brooklyn, NY/ James Madison) doubled home the second run of the game.
After adding a run in the third, the Huskies pulled away in the fourth scoring six runs to take a commanding 9-0 lead. With runners on second and third and one away, English tripled home two runs to make the score 5-0. The Huskies followed with four consecutive singles, with Stacey Krupiewski (Trooper/ Methacton) adding an RBI and Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/ Bellefonte) driving in two runs. The final run of the inning scored on an error by the Kutztown shortstop.
Ashley Lynn (Riverside/ Danville) was dominant on the mound allowing just two hits, while striking out two batters. English was 3-3 with three RBI's and two runs scored, while Reed was 2-4 with two runs.
In game two, the Huskies could mount little offense against Kutztown pitcher Kaitlin Arbogast who held Bloomsburg to just four hits and one run. Bloomsburg's lone run came in the top of the second when Jen Miller (Muir/ Williams Valley) scored after Reed reached based on an error.
Bloomsburg, 16-6, 3-1 in the PSAC East, will host West Chester on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
